Rita Salvatore

Rita Salvatore is a rural sociologist and a senior researcher at the University of Teramo, where she teaches “Gastronomic tourism and territory”. She is an Adjunct professor at the American University of Rome where she teaches “Food, rurality and local development” within the MA in Food Studies. She is the spokesperson of SlowFood Abruzzo and a member of the steering committee of the IRENA (International Research Network on Agritourism). She has conducted social research activities for more than twenty years and published mainly in international journals. Her main fields of research are the sociology of tourism and local development in peripheral rural areas.
